Developing World´s First Technologies
For years, we´ve successfully tested new and sustainable energy solutions with our partners. We take on big and small projects to help accelerate the transition to a greener future. Reach out and start testing your tech today!
Rethinking Energy Storage
Thaleron has developed an energy storage solution to enable a 100% clean grid. We helped them test the solution 634 meters below the sea – in our biggest operation to date!
To utilize solar, wind, and other green energy technologies that vary and fluctuate when delivering power, we need efficient energy storage to fill the gaps.
Thaleron’s mechanical energy storage system is a low-impact solution that will deliver significantly cheaper storage to speed up the energy transition. Read more
Light, Small and Efficient
Techouse is world-leading in combined-cycle technology that uses exhaust gas from offshore installations to generate pressurized steam. The steam is sent through steam turbines to generate additional power for the offshore installations.
However, due to cost, weight, lack of knowledge, and available deck space, the technology has not seen much use.
With their game-changing and compact solutions, Techouse has reduced the weight by 50% and the overall footprint by 15% on their brand new COTSGs.
World’s First Floating Ammonia-to-Hydrogen Cracker
Höegh Evi, Wärtsilä Gas Solutions and partners are developing the world’s first floating ammonia-to-hydrogen cracker. This breakthrough technology enables floating import terminals to produce hydrogen at industrial-scale volumes from transported ammonia, marking a significant step in the energy transition. The technology is highly scalable, with a send-out capacity of up to 210,000 tonnes of hydrogen annually. Read more
Offshore Charging from Wind Turbines
By connecting vessels to the power grid in the wind farm and charging batteries regularly, the Ocean Charger Project´s solution secures the availability of emission-free vessel operations offshore. Project manager Vard leads this strong consortium.
Through testing, the Ocean Charger has proved that it can power operations in the field without using any additional energy sources. Read more
Ammonia Combustion Engine
Wärtsilä´s combustion engines are aboard one-third of ships in operation today.
After testing in the Energy House, the innovative Finnish company has retrofitted and developed a 3 MW four-stroke engine to run on Ammonia. Retrofitting engines to run on Ammonia will secure massive emission cuts for global shipping.
Learnings from successful testing have also led to a new line of dual-fuel engines ready for operations on Ammonia. Read more

World´s First Vessel Running on Ammonia
US startup Amogy proved their patented high-efficiency Ammonia cracking technology on a drone, a tractor, and a semi-truck.
With our vast network of expertise, we helped Amogy prove and develop their groundbreaking solution.
After a year of testing in the Energy House, Amogy successfully demonstrated their technology on the Hudson River when they sailed the World’s First Carbon-Free Ammonia Powered Maritime Vessel. Read more
